Rebecca, you are so right! I am amazed that our BOD President would send out a statement about how good our landscaping company is. Look around- There are weeds everywhere in the common area around the mailbox kiosk. Dead spots everywhere in peoples lawns. When the BOD President sends out a statement endorsing the landscaping company that is doing a terrible job, it makes people feel like they are not being heard and no one cares about their concerns. Bad move. Instead of taking ownership of the neighborhood and being proactive, we have to point out the problems to Brightview.… Read more »

It is 90 degrees, but Christmas decorating season is around the corner. This is not to disparage the Whisper Dunes assorted holiday decorations at the front sign from last year. Honestly, they were “worn” looking old decorations probably kindly donated from an area resident. That is not the image we want to project. Honestly, a simple green wreath with a velveteen red bow is sufficient and would cost all of under $30 most likely. Holiday lights could be added for few dollars. That’s it. In this case, less is more, and more professional looking. Just my two cents.

Margaret and Mike Farris

This is a whine about the landscaping company…
If you are keeping track I have complained about them before.
It doesn’t seem to matter because nothing will be done. But I will say that things are getting so bad that a good landscaping company won’t take our subdivision.
When the mowers pick up weed seeds from my yard and put them on your yard and the weeds can’t be eliminated by anything short of nuclear warfare then we all will be stuck with Brightview and sh!t yards forever…

Who else has had enough with this so-called landscaping company? The workers who actually do the work seem to work to get things done but the management continues to let us down. The rep, Jasmine is a joke- she can never be reached for anything. I have grass in front of my house dying out because they refuse to do their job. I recently asked for help with a sprinkler head that is coming up at an angle and the strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street nearest the street is not getting enough water. When I asked… Read more »

Once again our community is lacking! Our front flag is a disgrace it is all torn up. Where is the outcry? Where are the board members ? We have no Christmas decorations out front or in common areas but every other community has had them up for at least the last week. Why? Did we not pay for these HOA decorations out of HOA funds? No wonder you cannot have any real People on any meaningful committees, like decorations committee, and welcome committee! Instead, we got all these Karen’s volunteering for landscaping and fines committee.

Thanks for alerting me that the American Flag needs replaced. I had not noticed the Flag was torn. I will replace it tomorrow.

All holiday decorations have been donated and installed by volunteers. There has never been HOA $ spent on decorating. In fact, there has not been any HOA $ spent thru any committee. Even the social & welcome committees spent their own money for the events. Seems like that is a lot to ask of just a few willing volunteers. Maybe get the facts before being so critical.

Not to mention the volunteer hours given by these homeowners. That includes committee and board members. This is a homeowner run HOA. There are 253 homes in Whisper Dunes and only a small percentage of members are volunteering their time. Have some compassion for their time and $ or maybe volunteer/donate yourself. If you can’t volunteer or donate, a gentle reminder when you notice something is better for all parties involved rather than condescending and hateful comments.

I have to take exception to your comment, once again. Some of us have volunteered MULTIPLE times and the Board has not been gracious enough to even respond. I mention, that EVERY resident has a right to volunteer in the community. The Board is not doing its job when it plays favorites. It has become far too much like a clique of just certain residents. When that changes, dramatically, I predict that more volunteers will step forward.

It would be most gracious and ethical if those posting used their names. To hide behind a false name is not in keeping with a harmonious neighborhood. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and chastising your neighbors, “shame on you..” is not gracious either.

What a joke this HOA is. Stop changing stuff to fit your own personal agenda and using our attorney that we pay for to mess people over. seriously from my understanding you already lost one potential court battle. Just WOW. DR Horton quarterly payments now are over $1700. Sad thing is that people are not standing up for themselves. Look around things are far worse than they ever have been, just kick the cancer off the board already. now they’re going after homeowners that have renters and going to charge homeowners $100 a day if they don’t disclose the renters… Read more »

Good news-Bad news…
The palm trees finally got cut.
The trees in my back yard did not get cut.
I ask and was told that they were instructed not to cut the trees in the back yards.
That would have been good information to know.
The palm trees in Whisper Dunes were planted by the builder… All of them.
As such I would believe that HOA fees would cover the maintenance of the trees…
All of them!

Congratulations! Homeowners never speak up until you feel the pain or miss treatment directly. Yep you’re right last year. All the palms were covered and out lined in budget by the HOA! what changed? if I’m not mistaken, 2023 budget that was approved by the board and implemented did not have exemptions to certain palm trees. Food for thought. Or maybe I missed it like so many others coming home to a half job done.

Again I’m requesting that Brightview cease and desist using the hugh riding blower on our driveway. It blows debris on our porch, garage door etc. We have requested this from our landscape committee, board, and management company/. ENOUGH!!!

Emma

We have not heard back from Brightview about NOT using the riding blower around our house 344 Blue Sage. I just happen to be home this afternoon and heard the blower coming. I watched as he went up the neighbors driveways blowing grass. I stopped him from ours. We DO NOT want to power wash the front garage and porch again. Please take care of this issue. Only use the large power blower on sidewalks and streets.

I want to ask the person next to our Whisper Dunes community to please stop target shooting or whatever. as it is terrifying our animals. Go to the Target Range but please stop exposing your neighbours and their animals to the noise

I just bought 345 Sand Oak last week – how do I access the mailbox? Can I receive Amazon shipments at my door? Or is there a restriction?

The pool is open. I was there yesterday morning with one of the board members when it was being inspected. I know for a fact that the BOD and Management worked feverishly for 28 hours restoring access. Members took time from work, and one was handling matters while on vacation. If you see a board member, thank them. Or send them an email. Their email addresses are on the Whisper Dunes website. I appreciate the hard work involved to restore this valuable resource.

Hello -we have a question prior to enclosing our covered patio in the Villas-what are the pros/cons of a screen porch v a glass porch ?
The purpose of enclosing this patio is to use it year-round. We think a glass patio might heat up as it faces west in the summer; but, of course, that’s a benefit in the winter….thanks for your thoughts!

Best bet is to get a reliable, honest, & recommended HVAC person in to discuss & advise you of what you want & need & the best way to achieve it. Just my thoughts on this.

A glassed in,air conditioned enclosure can be used year round, rain or shine…
Be sure to get approval before starting and select a known contractor.

I believe it’s past time for the palm trees to be trimmed.

WmPaulSmith

If you trim the Palms too early, the Berry Pods will grow back and need to be trimmed a second time. July/August seem to be the best times.

I can speak to the “growing back” if cut too early. That is a misunderstanding. From personal experience, I can tell you that cutting the seed pod STALKS even before they open cures the problem. They are easily identifiable even before buds. Too early might be early June, however, mid to late July is way too late.

Margaret and Mike Farris

We have lived here since before Michael and have 6 palms in our yard. I have never had this mess from them and we have only had them trimmed once a year.
This is waaay too late!

Hi-We have a need for an interior paint job-does anyone know/recommend Luis H Perry Foy? He’s interested in the job and claims he regularly paints ins in de in Whisper Dunes?

Several homeowners have used him. A very nice man but cannot speak about the quality of the work. Do know that he was much more expensive than others. I use Patriot Pro Painters. Again, expensive, but they do great quality work. Dion is the owner’s name.

Hi, Luis has done a lot of houses in the community and is a good painter!! He has done the inside and outside of our house 319 Blue Sage Rd. We have been very pleased with him and his work. He is extremely conscientious and honest. Wm. Paul Smith

Roof damage this morning, 6.16.2023.
Building 201 to 211 Sand Oak Blvd.
After the storm this morning, I found a roof shingle behind our unit and another in front. While inspecting the roof from the ground level, I saw some loose shingles on the roof, some loose shingles sticking out of the gutter and some spots on the roof that were missing shingles. I called Rizzetta this afternoon to report the damage and to see what should be done about it but was only able to leave a voice mail. Nobody returned my call.

We also had several shingles blown off at 300 Sand Oak Blvd this week-we think our shingle will be re-attached today by Hawkes-who did a roof repair a month ago.

This is typical bureaucracy…elected officials who think they’re so righteous and think they can take our money whenever they feel like it…this is similar to our government spending trillions on crap like Ukraine, Climate Change Hoax, bailouts, etc…what all of us homeowners need to do is vote removing every sitting board member at the next election.

Also, when we sell we will need to lower our selling price because this outrageous HOA dues cause buyers to look elsewhere.

bryantgay

Why is the HOA dues increasing so excessively. I live here in St Johns County, and all the 55 plus communities here are less than this outrageous amount. These communities offer recreation and amenities Whisper Dunes doesn’t offer. They have pickle ball, tennis courts, community centers with stores and restaurants, etc. Why the increase?
