Here is a look at items addressed by the Whisper Dunes Homeowner’s
Association Board of Directors at their meeting on August 17, 2023.
• The Board voted to retain the termite control services with Massey with
the stipulation that the company provide visual documentation of their
visits and that services are scheduled in advance so homeowners know
they are coming.
• A discussion was had regarding the installation of an electronic fob
system for pool access. This would provide a means of controlling the
sharing of the pool access code as well as tracking after-hours guests
and helping to narrow down who was at the pool in the event of
vandalism or damage. More discussion is planned on this topic.
• The Board discussed the recent palm tree trimming and talked about
what palms would be included in future trimmings. Several volunteers
stepped up to help get an accurate count of the number of palm trees in
the neighborhood for further discussion.
• Preparation for the 2024 budget is set to start the beginning of
September. The Board expects to vote on the budget by mid-November.
• Discussions began regarding investing some of the Whisper Dunes
reserve funds in CDs to help bolster the balance. Other options are
being investigated, and further discussions are expected.
• Board members Ron Pezley and Brian Thompson are continuing their
efforts to secure bids for the painting of the multi-family homes.
• The fall pine straw application is expected to be complete before Oct. 15
in time for Halloween decorations to go up.
• The Board discussed the continued status of delinquent HOA dues.
While the outstanding balance has gone down, there is still a balance of
approximately $38,000. The management company is working
diligently to collect these outstanding funds.

We often see signs of bears and/or raccoons visiting the Whisper Dunes neighborhood with trash cans tipped over and bags of trash strewn about.
Steps to help deter bears:
1. Keep trash secure in the garage. Delay putting trash containers to the curb for pickup as long as possible; ideally until the morning of trash pickup. Please make sure all trash is contained in the trash container and the container lid is closed when placed at the curb. Secure any other food source. Remember, bears seem to be attracted to bird feeders, pet food, and even grills.
2. Keep aware that there may be bears around. Keep yourself and pets safe.
3. Pickup any trash that has been spilled on the ground to keep the trash from being blown around.
If we keep food away from the critters, hopefully they will move on to another neighborhood that is less diligent.
Note to dog owners in our community.
We all love our dogs but not so much what they leave behind. Our neighbors especially those that do not have dogs definitely don’t like dog waste on their yards. Please don’t let your dog poop or pee on your neighbor’s yard. The best way to prevent your dog from pooping or peeing on someone’s yard is to keep the dog on a short enough leash that they cannot get to the grass, pine straw, or landscaping beds in other’s yards. Remember, always, always immediately pick up poop whether it is in the pine straw, dog park, street, sidewalk, landscaping and grassy areas around the pool.
There are several homeowners that have posted signs in their yards saying something like “no dogs”. Although signs in the yard are against our HOA rules, the owners say that is the only thing that helps. They are very frustrated that other people’s dogs are pooping and peeing on their yard and outraged when poop is left on their yard. The dog wastes stink and the pee can damage the grass.
Dog owners, please control your dogs enough to prevent your dog from peeing or pooping in other people’s yards. Always pick up poop your dog leaves behind regardless where it is.
